For iPhone · iPad · Mac · Watch · TV
Helios UV is a beautiful, no-nonsense UV index tracker for every Apple device you own. Live forecasts, burn-time predictions tailored to your skin type, threshold alerts, and widgets that follow the sun across your day.
One reliable signal — your current UV index — surfaced everywhere you might want to glance: dock, menu bar, home screen, lock screen, watch face, smart stack, Apple TV.
Updated hourly from Apple WeatherKit with a 30-second interpolation between samples so the displayed value tracks reality, not the last forecast tick.
Personalized to your Fitzpatrick skin type. Helios computes how many minutes of unprotected sun until your skin reaches its minimum erythemal dose at the current UV.
A Catmull-Rom sparkline of the next 24 hours, segments colored by UV intensity. See the peak coming and the safe-time crossings flagged on the dashboard.
Pick the UV level that matters to you and Helios will fire a local notification when the forecast crosses it — and another one when it falls back below.
Beyond the included standard green-to-red and high-contrast palettes, choose Mono, Mono Teal, Vegas Neon, Pastel, Response, and more — across every surface.
iOS background tasks, watchOS app-refresh, and a macOS hourly timer keep Helios fresh without burning your battery or your WeatherKit quota.
One purchase. Five platforms. Each surface drawn for the device it lives on — not a phone screenshot squeezed onto a watch.
Menu bar status item, dashboard window, four widgets, and a dock-icon mode. Light and dark adapt to the system.
Full dashboard, two widget sizes for the home screen, and threshold-crossing notifications.
Four complications — UV Index, Trend, Target, Burn — plus a Smart Stack tile for ambient awareness.
A leanback dashboard for your living room — useful when the porch door is wide open and you're deciding whether to head out.
Glance-able UV everywhere widgets live: home screen, today view, lock screen, notification center, and the macOS desktop.
Every UV reading in Helios comes from Apple's WeatherKit forecast data — the same pipeline that powers Apple's built-in Weather app. No scraped feeds and no third-party API in front of someone else's API.
Helios is built around the Fitzpatrick scale — the six-type skin classification widely used in dermatology and in public-health sun-safety guidance to describe how individual skin reacts to UV exposure.
Pick your skin type once during onboarding. Helios maps it to a documented minimum erythemal dose (MED) — the amount of UV exposure at which your skin begins to redden — and divides that dose by the current forecast UV every 30 seconds to give you a live minutes-to-burn estimate. Type I burns in minutes at UV 8; Type VI tolerates substantially more before visible reddening. Most weather apps treat everyone the same. Helios doesn't.
The minutes-to-burn estimate is a guide, not medical advice. Wear sunscreen, reapply, and consult a dermatologist about your personal sun safety.
Helios is free to use with the full UV index forecast, dashboard, and dangerous-UV safety alerts on every Apple device. Helios UV Pro unlocks every color palette, every icon mode, the macOS menu bar item, watchOS complications, every Home Screen and Lock Screen widget, the target-UV picker, and target-based notifications — across every device you own.
